Why I am riding:
I’m participating because I eat every day. Actually, I eat several times a day. And I’ve grown accustomed to it, even expect it. This food assurance enables me to be a productive person in society, at work and at home. Without that expectation of food, which I’ve always had, my time and energy would be focused solely on getting food for that day thus impacting every aspect of my life.
What did your elementary school look like? What color was the outside? What color was your “home room?” Who was your best friend? Did your lunchroom pale yellow walls with those folding tables with the round plastic seats? Do you remember the kids on the school lunch program who had that little blue punch-card? That was probably her only meal of the day. Which makes me now think, what did she eat over the weekend? Did she eat over the weekend? What about the long summer?
I’m riding to raise awareness about these types of issues and to raise money to alleviate these issues.
My personal fundraising goal:
$1,500
Why should someone sponsor me?
“I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggone it, people like me.” To quote Stuart Smalley from SNL.
Actually, I don’t care if you sponsor ME. It isn’t about ME. It’s about helping PEOPLE. What I do ask you to do is to sponsor SOMEONE on Bike Out Hunger (if that’s me, GREAT, I actually do care as I’m competitive to a fault).
Thank you for making it this far in joining me to feed hungry kids.
Now, just put in a dollar amount, hit submit and watch what we can accomplish.

Rand,
I signed up this evening for Bike Out Hunger , but am unable to access the web page and I am confused on how to get it to post to facebook. Sorry, I’m just not as technologically advanced as I probably should be for someone in there 30′s — so, I guess what I am asking is how soon are we able to access the website in order to get sponsorships?
Melissa
Melissa,
Let me look in on that and get back with you. I’ll either post it or send you an e-mail.
